Here are some FAQs that might be helpful:
Q: Why is my oven being recalled?
A: There is a risk of fire if your oven was not properly installed and/or has a damaged flexible gas appliance connector. Specifically, the flexible gas appliance connector on your oven may have been improperly installed and pushed far up and inside the back panel of the oven. From a technical perspective, if your flexible gas line's coating is damaged, and the gas line is in the space between the back panel and oven, the uncoated portion could make contact with two brass electrical connections in the heating coil while the oven is in the "ON" position, and cause a hole to develop on the gas line, which would allow gas to leak and a fire to occur.
Q: How to reduce the risk of a fire in my oven?
A: To avoid this hazard you should have insulating caps installed over the brass connections.
Q: What if my gas connector line was improperly installed up inside the back cover? Does that mean my oven will catch on fire?
A: The Company recommends that you participate in the recall and have the repair made.
Q: Should I stop using my oven until my oven is repaired?
A: Yes.
Q: Can the repair be done without pulling the oven out of the wall?
A: Yes. Basically, a technician will unplug your oven, remove the fan motor assembly from the inside of the oven, install insulating caps over the brass terminals, and then reassemble the fan. The process takes about 30 minutes.
Q: My oven appears to be operating okay and has been for years. Do I still need to have the repair?
A: You should participate in the recall and have the insulating caps installed.
Q: Is there a way I can install these insulating caps myself?
A: No. Do not attempt to install insulating caps on your own. You should participate in the recall and have the repair done by a technician. There is no charge to you.
Q: How long will it be before I can get the repair made?
A: About 10 business days. We apologize for any inconvenience, and assure you we are working as quickly as possible to repair your product.
